Becks, Donovan shut out in stellar win for RB

The L.A. Galaxy were still celebrating their equalizer when Juan Pablo Angel got behind the Galaxy defense, where he was located by a pinpoint pass into space from Dane Richards. Angel did the rest and the goal held up as the game winner. “New York was the best team on the night,” said Angel. “We had the better of the opportunities and took advantage of our scoring chances.”

Van den Bergh freekick earns point at Toronto»

A Dave van den Bergh freekick made it through the Toronto FC wall on 39 minutes to bring the New York Red Bulls level with TFC on Thursday night at BMO Field. There would be no more scoring, but plenty of fireworks north of the border. The Red Bulls are now unbeaten in three games. The tie ends TFC’s franchise record winning streak at three games as well.

The New York Red Bulls beat the San Jose Earthquakes on a second half penalty conversion by Mike Magee, with Jozy Altidore adding a second in the waning seconds. It was the first win since opening day for Juan Carlos Osorio’s team, who were playing without Juan Pablo Angel.
“It felt pretty incredible,” second half substitute Magee said of his first MLS goal since 2006.
